Rosie the Riveter

Look at who joined our family this weekend. Rosie, the sweet, gentle, 10-week old Chocolate Labrador puppy doggins.

The kind of doggy with soft soft ears and giant lion paws that look way too big for her body.

Since we had to put Isabel to sleep, the house has felt a little lonely with only one animal. We knew we needed a puppy so we could raise her with our adult cat.  On their first meeting, Rosie barked and Kia arched her back. Then they both sat down and regarded each other warily. But there was no chasing, no hissing, and no teeth or claws involved. I expected Kia the cat to hide under the bed for two weeks, but so far she's been too busy letting Rosie know that this is her house, her chair, her food dish, her bed, that she hasn't had time to worry about being scared.

I promise not to let this blog turn into one big puppy fest with 97 pictures per day of my dog chewing on various toys, but I wanted you to see our new baby sweetheart.

P.S. Our animals don't live in the studio, so don't worry if you're allergic to furry things.

Awwww! So sweet!!!! :)
Maybe if I let DH see her & remind him how cute labs are he'll consent to us getting a dog finally, lol ;)
She is precious and I hope that she & Kia continue to get along wonderfully!!

Glad to see you got her a chew bone. Labs eat EVERYTHING. We had a lab that chewed the corner of the house off. Oh, and she liked my magazines too.

What a beautiful girl! I feel I must share with you what DH shared with me when we got our first of two large dogs....don't let them do anything while they are small/young that you don't want them to do when they are full grown. And he reminds me fairly often when I have to crawl over the large dog to be able to get out of bed in the morning and complain.

Enjoy!!

I don't mind some puppy pics! She's a love! Also, I think (hope) a new, dark, tonal colorway is about to happen...

I don't mind puppy pics! Nothing from with cute babies to go with gorgeous yarn! I bet she'll make a great model for you. Congrats on the new addition!

Puppy pics are welcome! Love puppy pics! Just tell Rosie to slowly back away from the yarn..... knitted socks are not chew toys, especially while they are on the needles, sitting on the couch, while you step away for only 15 minutes....... I think you are getting that picture......

do you suppose it could be that this breed is born with nearly full-grown paws ... in other words she will grow into them.

the greens in that picture need to be a colorway :)

Awww! What a sweetie - and oh my, look at those ginormous paws! She's gonna be a big girl! Congratulations on your new family member.

I love making this recommendation to anyone with dogs in their lives, this has been THE best resource I've found for learning great ways to train and deal with the canine members of the family so that everyone is happy. It is a show on Animal Planet called "It's Me or the Dog". Here's the link to their website, which is loaded with clips from many of the show's episodes, and where you can get more info on the show and the trainer, Victoria Stillwell. http://animal.discovery.com/tv/its-me-or-dog/index.html - I hope you will find this resource as helpful as I have.

And please do share more photos, I never get tired of looking at cute puppy and kitty pics!

She's beautiful! Please share photos anytime the mood strikes you. She should be a colorway, although Barrett has some of the chocolate. Hopefully she and Kia will continue to learn how to be friends. Getting a new furry baby is a wonderful way to help heal the loss of another furry companion. Sophie has helped us with our losses, and hopefully Rosie will do the same for you and your family.

I love puppies! Especially Lab puppies. It's their deep chocolatey brown soulful eyes. sigh. My Lab mix is an old man now, but those eyes keep him out of trouble.

Awww..she reminds me of my Lucy when she was a pup 10 years ago(she still has the beautiful amber eyes). Takes lots of pictures now & look back at them a year from now when she's doubled in size!

Your Isabel post brought tears to my eyes, but the beautiful doggy pictures put a big smile on my face. Your new addition to the family is darling!
