TIME’S UP! It’s a sickness.

It really is. And I have been infected. You might want to stop reading this now lest it make you very, very ill as well.

We now have, what... ten? of the best yarn bases out there, and I can't stop working to develop more. Pretty soon y'all will suffer from choice overload and you'll be too overhwlemed to make any yarn-related decisions at all.

Right now, I have three yarns I am considering adding to the lineup. They are all so fantastic, I want to share them with other people. One of them is a plied version of our Galenas Merino in a chunky weight. Another is a heavier weight Blue Faced Leicester yarn... still working to perfect that one. And another is a mid-weight fingering merino washable sock yarn that I can't get enough of.

So, help me out. Do we have too many yarn options already? Should I see a mental health professional for my sickness and stop working on these things? What would you like to see added to the lineup (if anything)? (Either something I've already mentioned, or something else.) What would be your dream 3IG yarn?

If you can help me with these weighty questions, I will enter your response in a drawing for your choice of Curran,

Rhiannon,

or Tara

on Wexford Merino Silk. You have until 2:00pm EST Friday afternoon.

You scratch my back, I'll scratch one of yours.

Ok, as a mental health professional, I can safely say you are still in ok territory. That or we are both sick, take your pick.

I like having more options, so I say bring it on. It might be cool though to create a little wizard, where you can ask questions to help the shopper determine what yarn would be the best match for their project. Oooh....that would be fun!!

They all sound great. I am definitely a fan of washable sock yarn, as they have a tendency to end up in the washing machine pile accidentally...

As for the business side of things, variety is great, just be sure you have room for it, etc. Plus, you are known for quality in yarn base and dye lot, don't sacrifice that for variety! (I'm a business owner myself, so I second all the businessy-boring stuff said above.)

I would love the chunky galenas-- that is my favorite yarn and would love more options.

I always love more washable yarn. I have a baby and well, you know. They're messy.

We can never have too many choices! My favorite yarns are wool/silk blends in all weights, washable merino/nylon blends in fingering weight, and while I love the softness of single ply, I find that plied yarns wear better, so I love them too! Also, washable wools are my friends.

Hi Sharon,
I don't think you are offering too many choices. There are so many projects out there where a specific type and/or weight of yarn is needed. Not to mention, it is REALLY nice to experiment with new types of yarn. I get a thrill each time I work with a new yarn, feeling it in my fingers, seeing how the colors work up. I have not yet tried all of the 3IG types of yarns but once I find the right projects and the pocketbooks allow it, I fully intend to. I really like the idea of the chunky bfl. I would also like to see a worsted superwash wool for baby sweaters and booties. Thanks! :-)

You can never have too many choices when it comes to yarn. I would love to see another fingering weight. How about BFL sock yarn? That would be awesome.

I vote for more choices! Especially for sock yarns! The blue-faced Leicester sounds very intriguing as well. Go for it!

I love choices. Especially because you don't always want to use the recommended yarn in a pattern. BUT, if you can find a similar base with one of TIG's awesome colorways, it would be perfect.

So I say not too base choices! Keep adding them!

Hmmm... Out of the 3 you mentioned, I think the washable mid-wt sock yarn is a good choice - good for gift socks that work up quickly and will be easy for the recipient to care for. If you want to know my dream yarn, though, I would say bamboo (alone or in a blend) in a sport/sock wt. I think the shine of the bamboo would be great with your colors!

Well, I don't think you have too many choices, I just want to try them all! But what I would like to see is a heavy weight sock yarn, something appropriate for my hard working, steel toe boot wearing, size 12 footed husband. I would love to make him a bunch of socks, but they need to be thick.

Ooh, and I agree about the bamboo sock suggestion above.

More, more, more!!! Gimme more!!!

I think the new ones sound fab! I do not discriminate. MORE!!!

I like having so many choices. But what I would *really* love to see are pictures of the different yarns, especially close-ups of knitted swatches. That would make it so much easier to choose!

I like the sound of all three that you are considering! I'd also love to see more fingering-weight yarn bases, both for socks, and for lace. Maybe a fingering merino-silk blend for lacy drapey wraps with a little warmth to them? Yum!

Do we have too many yarn options already?
Heck no!! I love having choices, and your colorways enable my creativity in a very positive way!

Should I see a mental health professional for my sickness and stop working on these things?
DO NOT SEEK HELP. (They wouldn't get it anyway unless they were a knitter!)

What would you like to see added to the lineup (if anything)? (Either something I’ve already mentioned, or something else.) I'd like to see a bamboo or bamboo blend sock yarn. I love using wook for socks, but I live in North Carolina where I can't wear 100% wool socks all the time because it's just too flippin hot in this darned state! Blends work well for us southern ladies and bamboo always looks so loverly.

What would be your dream 3IG yarn?
Just a snitchy bit of cashmere... Oh to have a soft, yummy, smooshy little cap in your pretty colors. Or even a little something for a special baby.

Ok, now I need to go and pet my stash...

I really don't think imagination and creativity are a sickness! If you have the capital and room and time for more yarn choices I say go for it. I am interested in a good midweight "sproingy" sock yarn.

I am on the firm belief that one can never have too many sock yarn options. I don't knit often enough with them to have much of an opinion on the heavier yarns, but as far as socks go, more is definitely better!

I'd like to see a cashmere merino worsted blend. . .

Sorry to be late. I know it's past the contest deadline, but I'd like to register my vote for mid-weight sock yarn. Yum! There are never too many yarn choices!

July 11, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterJane

Here's another vote for adding more sock yarn choices!

All people deserve very good life time and or just bank loan can make it better. Just because people's freedom depends on money.
