Here, fishy fishy! And please help!

We have sock dare winners! We have two winners, in fact, both of whom knit this awesome Carassius pattern into a pair of special socks.

Take a look at these:

Yay, Crystal!

Since both Bethany and Crystal sent in their pictures on the same day, they'll both receive a prize. I hope you'll enjoy the best prize, though: an awesome pair of socks!

We are having so much fun around the studio looking at all of these amazing pictures! So please contribute yours, if for no other reason than you want to entertain us. We love them. (Thank you Trisha and Jennifer for the pictures!)

Also, if you live in the Washington, DC area and you want to come to my Knitting With Hand Dyed Yarn class on February 21st, there are still a couple of spots available. The class is being held in Silver Spring, MD, at The Yarn Spot yarn shop. You can contact them directly at 301-933-9550, or at victoria@theyarnspot.com, to sign up.

I am hard at work on the curriculum, and will have lots of examples and tips for you.

Here's where I need your help:

What sorts of things would you like to see covered in a class like this? Any questions you'd like to have answered? Topics I could better elucidate for you? Any feedback is welcome, I want to make sure I'm giving my students what they want!

Thank you for your help! I know the students will thank you, too!

Very beautiful socks! The beads really add a lot. You asked what people who attend your class might want you to elucidate on. I won't be able to attend your class, but I would like you to elucidate on the meaning of elucidate. Thank you.

Elucidate means to make clear or to explain. Is there anything I can help elucidate for you? Perhaps the differences between Moroccan and Israeli couscous?

;P

Dear Yarnista's Mama,

I love all your posts...they always make me smile. Your daughter is wonderful...and we can all see where she gets it.

Dear Yarnista,
Only if you have good recipes :)

Brava to the fishy sock winners - I'm thrilled to see that you both win!! They are so beautiful, you both deserve a prize.

I so wish I could attend your class. I would be most interested in learning more about looking at handdyed yarn, especially variegated, and knowing how to picture it knit up - I have to swatch, and am often surprised at how the color repeats/variations show up.

I'm looking forward to your class! I'm interested in the actual dyeing process, as well as assessing hand-dyed skeins for their best project match.

This is going to be the most obscure request ever, but maybe you will know what I'm talking about: There was something that someone came back from Sock Summit talking about that might have been one of Katie's tricks. It had to do with folding handpainted yarn to see how the colors would stack and pool. I would like to see that trick.

I also think that people with less experience with handdyed yarns would appreciate hearing about the ways those yarns can work up and how to make changes--switching needles, adding a stitch or two, alternating skeins. Being able to see a swatch of the same yarn on different needles or over a different number of stitches would also probably be helpful.

Good job! I got no farther than reading the directions and winding off yarn... These are both beautiful! I am inspired to go back to my pair.

Oh No! I finished mine on 2/2/10 and posted the pictures in the gallery on the 2nd. I must have done something wrong. :(

Congrats to those who won.
