TIME’S UP! Biggest yarn giveaway… ever!
Monday, March 23, 2009 at 5:31PM
Time is up! We'll be liveblogging the winners today (Wednesday) around 12:00 noon EST.
Have you seen our Spring Lookbook yet? (Even if you do nothing but flip through and think, "Cool," that will make me happy.)
We are giving away every skein of yarn pictured in the Spring Lookbook. Every single skein. All twenty of them.
This one:
And this one:
And this one:
And all seventeen more. We're not giving away the other stuff in the pictures, just the yarn.
There is no catch. You don't have to buy anything, you don't even have to pay for shipping. All you have to do is enter.
Contest rules: One entry per person. Our blog logs IP addresses, so we can check. Please enter only one time. You cannot be an employee of Three Irish Girls or be related to an employee of Three Irish Girls. (Got that, honey?) Your entry must be received by 4:30 am Eastern time on Wednesday, March 25th. Entries sent after that time will not be included in the contest.
Here's how it works: Reply to this post, answering the question below. You must actually reply to this post, do not email in your answer. (Click on the Read User's Comments link, and scroll down. It will take you to a box where you can reply.) After all the entries have been received, the number of entrants will be divided into 20 groups. One winner will be selected from each of the 20 groups. This is to improve your chances of winning. For example, if there are 100 responses, I will divide everyone into 20 groups. Each group will have five people.
Are you with me? 100 divided by 20= 5. I will then choose one winner from each of the 20 groups. In the scenario I've given, your odds of winning will change from one in 100 to one in five. Or something like that. I'm not a statistician. Just try to trust me, I'm looking out for you here. There will also be one grand prize given away, a winner randomly chosen from among everyone. The grand prize is a $150 gift certificate to be used on anything you like in our store.
TIME IS UP! WINNER'S WILL BE ANNOUNCED AROUND 12:00 EST TODAY (WEDNESDAY). BE SURE AND CHECK BACK, and thank you, everyone. :)GOOD LUCK, AND MAY THE (KNITTING) FORCE BE WITH YOU!

I love all the yarns but if I were to choose one, I would have to choose Maguire. I love that color of blue green and think it would be perfect to make one of those long hooded sweater things that is sewn shut at the bottom for babies (for a baby we are hoping for soon). It would be a good color for a boy or girl. For a boy I would do an edging in an appropriate green or for a girl, I could put a cute edging with a deep pink.
Hoping for yarn and baby!
Jackie
All of the colors are beautiful! So hard to choose... but I'd love to make a pair of long armwarmers with Cameron yarn :)
Cian. Oh my goodness, that is so pretty. I would make myself a gorgeous scarf with it and look towards getting enough to make matching gloves.
Oh, so hard to choose! I'm in love with Erin it's absolutely gorgeous. But I think I'd have to go with Jack the colors are just lovely. I think maybe a lacy little wrap cardigan, something lightweight that would be good for summer evenings would be perfect.
I absolutely love Maura. The soft color is just to die for. I'm honestly not sure what I'd make out of it, maybe a berat with a fancy stitch or lace pattern. Actually, anything with an intricate stitch or lace pattern would look lovely with Maura in my opinion.
Maguire. I know it's not the showiest, but I don't believe I've ever seen quite that combination of shades of blue before. And I would make a wrap that would make the most of every inch ... maybe Swallowtail.
I'd pick Kate and make a baby blanket or cute cardigan for a friends baby she is having a baby girl
Oh so hard to choose... I'd have to say Naill and I'd make something from Knitting Nature - maybe the pentagon sweater.
It has to be blue -
It has to be blue-
I wandered around and suddenly found
It has to be blue ....
Brady blue - to bring out the colour in my daughter's eyes.
I will never forget the night before she arrived home after an absence of 12 months - I had a fortune cookie at a Chinese restaurant - the slip of paper said "Blue eyes will bring you happiness deeper than the sea" - I cried.
Madrigan. The description of "mosaic" drops of color got me. Truly all georgeous. I will make mittens for afghans for Afghans campaign.
I would get Kieran and /or Maeve. I would use the Kieran for a shawl and the Maeve for socks from Cookie A's new book.
By the way, my nephew's name is Kieran. I was looking for a yarn named Bridget for my daughter
Not another entry - I forgot to say a beautiful scarf for the blue- eyed daughter ....of course ;-)
Alana speaks to me. Pinks and Browns. Subtle and warm.
All of the above? No? Then, if I had to choose only one, it would be Niall. So beautiful! Maybe I'd knit a hat...but then again, I like to hold the yarn and feel it before I decide. I like to let the yarn speak to me and tell me what it wants to be.
Oh my, Cian really speaks to me! It makes me think of Spring, and heaven knows I am SO ready for Spring.
I would choose Cian because spring is here and it's time for yellow (in my mind at least). I would knit some springy socks - maybe Monkey socks.
I would choose Erin - not only because my name is Erin, but because it contains all of my favorite colors. I would knit a generous simply-patterned triangular lace shawl with a wide teardrop border.
Just one? They're all gorgeous.
But I'm really drawn to Madigan, because I can see one little skein turning into a delectable pair of socks. The "pops" of color really just beg to become socks.
Maeve is my favorite, and I would probably make some mittens with it.... and maybe a matching hat with another skein!
So many luscious colors. Right now Kieran and Cameron really speak to me as I am very drawn to orange at this point in my life.
I want a large warm stole/wrap I can wear in place of a coat in the fall and spring.
If Jack fallowed me home I'd keep him forever! The bit off orange amidst the green gives me goose bumps. It would have to become something I could look to often for colour inspiration. Striped cuffs and sleeves blending up into the body of a dark sweater would be wonderful in a perfect knitting/crochet world.
I love Kieran for the Everybody Knows sweater on Knitty I've been itching to knit. Also love Cian. That bright bubbly yellow makes me smile. I don't know what I'd make with it. I'd probably stack it up somewhere and smile at it every time I walked by.
My first pass through I was able to narrow it down to 12 favorites. I might need to order one every month. I managed to get it down to 5, but I just can't get down to a single fave. My 5 are: Erin, Connor, Jack, Ian, and Maeve. I am mostly a sock knitter and I can't think of anything better than socks in any of these colors. Ooh, maybe a scarf, too.
OOO Jack is sweet! I'd make a pair of longies for my peanut!
I love Niall. I would make a lace scarf with it. I have the Wisps of Smoke by Jackie Erickson-Schweitzer. I think the variagation would look stunning.
