Clubs? Where did I put my clubs?
Friday, May 30, 2008 at 7:09PM
Aha!
There they are!
We have two new, super awesome clubs that have been in the planning stages for, like, ever.
Stash Menagerie
Some of you know that I collaborated with some other talented dyers for our Yarn of the Month club for more than two years. After so many years together (sniffle), we were both ready to try new things. Stash Menagerie was born as a way to enhance your stash and get yarny goodness in the mail every month. (You can see more about it here, if you're interested.)
Sock Yarnista
This is really the be all and end all of sock yarn clubs. Exclusively designed patterns. Goodies. Seriously, the BEST yarns, anywhere, ever. Ever. Maybe it's just me. Maybe I'm biased.
But I don't think so.
(More info on this club here.)
These clubs are keeping me awake at night with excitement. My friends and family are like, "All right. We get it. Yarn club. Woo." So we're going to spread a little excitement around to people who actually care (apparently NOT my friends and family ;).
Ready? We are giving away three single month memberships to either of our clubs! (Your choice.) If you are already a subscriber, you can enter too -- you'll either get a free month of membership, or an extra skein in your shipment, whichever you prefer.
TIME'S UP! Enter your first name and real email address below (sorry, gotta keep the spam away), and leave a comment telling us why you like to knit or crochet. That's all! A winner will be chosen using a random number selector. You have until 7:00 pm Eastern on Tuesday, June 3rd to enter. Good luck to you! :D Please note that we'll use the email you leave as a means to contact you, so please be sure it's correct!

Knitting is meditative and gives me a way to deal with stress in my life while helping me with patience and giving me something beautiful all at the same time.
I learned to knit because I wanted to save money and make my own knits.
Now its so much more than that. Its relaxing and therapy for me. Is a calm place in the chaos of my life.
I love to knit because it is a great stress relief for me--something that I need a lot of lately!
I love to knit because I love making things with my hands. It allows me to focus on other things (thinking, tv, conversation) and is incredibly relaxing.
I love the zen-like meditation that knitting can help take me to. Knitting is a prayer between me, the yarn and the universe. It keeps me sane!
I'm a fidgter. And a worrier. I started knitting in between our two kids, as I had four pregnancy losses and needed something to keep me from dwelling on how heartsick I was. Knitting has brought so much joy into my life -- and lead to many good things -- new friends, a sense of accomplishment, spinning, dyeing, sheep festivals, and a skill and hobby to pass on to my children. And watching TV in the evening no longer feels like a waste of time!
I love knitting because I am constantly learning something new. I recently knit my first pairs of socks and can't wait to try more patterns! I can't wait to see all your sock yarns!
After I stopped working outside the house, I realized that one of the things I had most enjoyed about my job was the sense of accomplishment it gave me. I could see real results every day of my hard work. Being at home full time, most of my hard work is un-done rather quickly: clean laundry is dirty again within a day; a delicious meal is eaten and forever gone; a tidy, clean house is turned upside down once the kids wake from naps.
Knitting gives me that sense of accomplishment. I can see tangible results from my time.
And, it serves my ego. I love it when someone asks me where I got my sons' sweater or longies or hat and I can say, "I made it."
YAY! A new blog! I can't wait to explore. It does look wonderful Sharon.
I love to knit and crochet as it gives me such relaxation. A hobby I began to save me some money in using woolies to cloth diapering my children, it has become a very important part of my life. It now provides a little extra money for my family and has provided me a way to meet new people, form some wonderful friendships, and to create some great gifts for my family.
I can't imagine not spending some time each week on the fiber arts from this point forward in my life.
I have to agree with Tabitha. I find knitting is a means of relieving stress after a long day of work, in and out of the house. It's an opportunity for 'me' time. I also enjoy the creative outlet.
Crocheting again after putting the needle down some 30+ years ago is exciting. The patterns and yarns available today are so yummy that they make me want to scream. Actually, I smile a lot more these days. Picking a pattern, then picking the yarn and starting the fisrt stitch already fills the creative void in me. So that by the time I get done, I feel like I have fulfilled the true artist in me and fed my creative soul after starving it for so many years.
For me knitting is a way to relax...well most of the time anyway ;-) And I love to do something with my hands but as I'm not that handy I'm very happy to have discovered something I'm actually reasonably good at.
I knit because I love to start projects, because I LOve how the fibers feel in my hands, because I love color and because it is a stress reliever for me. I simply Love to see it all, and I enjoy the process. Oh, and sometimes I am a finisher.
I learned a few knitting basics from my mom when she took up knitting as a hobby when I was a kid. I began teaching myself to knit again when I found how much I loved using wool diaper covers on my boys. I fell in love with knitting because it is so much fun!! I love the adventure of creating something new and unique and seeing how each colorway will knit up and feel against the skin.
I like to knit and crochet because I can not sit still and I am in love with bright colours :)
I started knitting as a way to fill time while traveling one summer. But I quickly learned that it could be so much more than just a way to occupy myself. I love the challenge of working out difficult patterns, of designing my own pieces, of finding the perfect colors to match an idea. I love the satisfaction of seeing something beautiful and functional that I've made myself.
Knitting and crocheting is a way for my to keep my hands busy in the evenings! I love creating things, and this way you have full control - I can't wait to teach my daughter another way to be self sufficient!
Knitting keeps me sane! When I get stressed out in my busy house, I can zone out in my knitting and feel much better. Plus, I love making things for my family.
I love to knit because with four kids running around it's time I can spend doing something 'I' like to do. It's my first real creative thing that I've learned to do and am pretty good at! :)
I started knitting when I was in grade school or high school, iIt's been so long now I can't really remember when I first started. After about a 20 year break from knitting and crocheting, I took a class in sock knitting, touched all the new yarns, and was hooked.
So far it's been socks, scarves, and a hat.
I love knitting because it is a portable craft and I can do and take it anywhere . With 4 kids and many sporting activities it is a great way to pass the time while watching practices and games .
I love the rewards to a completed project.
I love to knit or crochet to take my mind of the worries of everyday stress.
I reall started in to yarn after my 2nd child passed away and my hand and arms where empty. It was not my baby I was missing but it was somthing I could do with out thinking at that time and the better I got knitting/crocheting the clearer my mind became with the greving of my baby.
Now its somthing I enjoy to relax with.
I may be getting older, but if I can still knit, I'm mentally alert! And physically flexible! And I'm relaxed!
I love to knit up things for my family (extended and immediate). I especially love making clothes for my daughter. She's so sweet and deserves the best fiber next to her baby skin :)
I just like to knit. It's that simple.
